Poetry Contest: Inside the Sun

Hey everybody!

So, the Riverside County Office of Education is having these weekly art contests. This is the last day for week one, poetry. The theme of the contest is Expressions of Change.

Now, I don’t usually write poetry, but I decided to enter. When I was younger I wrote poetry all the time until I started writing books. But it was fun to write a poem again.

So, I’m going to share my poem with all of you!

Inside the Sun

Leaves changing color.
Warm air getting colder.
The sun stops shining brighter, I want to hide inside her.
The world is not the same.
My thoughts are all a blur.
I hide inside the sun and feel the warmth from her.
If I don’t change
To match the winds of late,
You’ll find me in the sun where I lie in wait.
Change is a scary thing
I don’t want you to go.
The warmth inside the sun is the only thing I know.
To leave the warmth, enter the unknown
To leave the sun and travel on my own.
