Hey everyone! So, I have great news! I have been working very hard and have been accepted into the American Sign Language Interpretation Preparation Program! It has been my goal to enter this program since I started learning ASL.
So, today I’m going to share a little bit about my experience learning ASL.
I started teaching myself Sign Language when I was in eighth grade. But my interest in Sign Language began long before that. When I began high school, I started taking ASL classes at the local college and have continued that ever since.
I don’t remember what got me interested in ASL when I first started learning, but I know what kept me going. The language is beautiful, and I instantly fell in love with it, along with the culture and Deaf community.
Since I started learning ASL, I knew I wanted to be an interpreter. It’s a critical job in the Deaf community. It’s a job I feel honored to be learning about in the hopes of becoming an interpreter myself.
Sign Language is a beautiful language, and the Deaf community is wonderful! I’m thrilled to have been accepted into this program and wanted to share this with all of you! I highly encourage everyone to think about learning ASL. You won’t regret it.
